Out of Sight is an inventive little second person horror adventure where a blind little girl sees through the eyes of her teddy as she attempts to escape a kidnapper’s house.
Created by a group of students from the Futuregames school in Stockholm, in Out of Sight you follow the adventure of a blind young girl who awakens in the basement of her kidnapper’s house. She can see through her teddy bear’s eyes, which essentially allows her to see much like a first person game when she’s carrying the teddy, but when she places it down in different locations, she can see herself and her surroundings from a fixed camera perspective. You need to use this unique ability to help you solve puzzles and evade capture as you try to escape the house.
There are some issues with the character movement (particularly when jumping), but aside from that the visual design is excellent and the core second person perspective mechanics are used in some very creative ways. It’s got some great ideas and it would be great to see it expanded on in the future.
