Outpost Horizon Station is a super cool 360° bullet hell platforming shooter that sees you trying blast enemies and stay alive within the shattered remains of a destroyed space station.
Playing a little like if Super Hexagon was a platforming shooter, Outpost Horizon Station delivers a fast and frantic slice of bullet hell platforming action. You control a lone fighter who has to attempt to survive for as long as possible against hordes of attacking enemies. There are three different types of enemies, each with their own unique attack styles and you can also pick up force fields and slow motion bullet time power-ups to increase your chances of survival.
There are three levels to complete in the game, each of which is set in the same area but give you three different objectives to complete (such as stay alive for 1 minute or get a 6x multiplier). Complete all three objectives in a level and you’ll unlock a weapon or a new character, with their own unique attributes that can aid your fight.
It’s a simple, tough and very addictive little game that oozes style – thanks largely to the excellent pixel artwork and fantastic instrumental electronic rock soundtrack by Weird Pocket that’s fondly reminiscent of the work of Tomoyasu Hotei. You’ll fail a lot in this game, but you’ll have a hell of a good time trying!
