Path of Adventure is an addictive text based RPG adventure that plays a little like a choose-your-own adventure book, but with turn based combat, loot, stats and roguelike elements.
In Path of Adventure you take control of a hero who travels along a treacherous path filled with random encounters and randomized dungeons to explore. You’ll need tactics, strategy and a little luck to survive as you fight monsters, collect loot, talk to strangers and level up your character. Each dungeon that you encounter is optional and it can contain useful loot that will aid your quest, but you’ll usually have to fight your way past some dangerous monsters to find it.
The text based UI works really well, giving you all the information you need and feeling much more of an RPG game than a simple piece of interactive fiction. It’s a tough game, which almost feels like Dark Souls reimagined as a text based RPG adventure, with a nebulous lore, challenging adversaries and death coming swiftly if you rush into fights ill prepared. Highly recommended.
