Perdita is an atmospheric narrative-driven horror adventure that sees you uncovering the story of a voodoo priestess who died in 1989 and cursed the surrounding land, leaving death and destruction in her wake.
In Perdita you explore the home of Julia Brown, a voodoo priestess who lived there with her husband some 20 years ago. She was known for using her witchcraft for good and assisting the local residents with their ailments when they asked, but one day she died and cursed the whole town, with three hurricanes hitting the area and leaving untold devastation in their wake. Your aim is to explore the house, discover its secrets and get to the bottom of what really happened in that house 20 years ago.
Perdita features a nice mixture of exploration, puzzle solving, narrative and scripted jumpscares as you explore the old abandoned house. It’s got a great sense of atmosphere and there’s an impressive attention to detail in the environmental design, with lots of items to discover, pick up and examine.
The way you equip and use keys is a little odd and the the scripted scares are a bit hit and miss, but otherwise it’s a very polished experience with a high level of environmental detail and an interesting narrative. There’s a real sense of doom and dread that envelops you as you explore the recesses of the house and discover more of the life of Julia. Highly recommended.
