Player Known Battlegrounds isn’t yet another Battle Royale game, instead it’s a whimsical little edutainment game that sees a recently divorced tour guide teaching a group of tourists about the American Civil War while exploring the Gettysburg National Cemetery.
You start Player Known Battlegrounds by jumping out of an airplane, but the similarities to PUBG end there. Instead of fighting to be the last one standing you take on the role of a tour guide who is struggling to come to terms with his recent divorce and who must shepherd the paying tourists around the Gettysburg National Cemetery while talking about the important monuments within it.
You do learn a little about the Gettysburg National Cemetery and the American Civil War as you explore the area, but what is just as interesting is learning more about your characters divorce and getting to know the tour members. The tour members do have a rather annoying habit of wandering off though, so it can be a bit of a pain in the ass trying to shepherd them from location to location. Unfortunately you can’t just let them ramble freely either as you have an itinerary to complete and you also have to make sure they all get on the bus at the end.
It would be nice if the tourists were a little easier to guide around the area, but it’s a fun little game that’s packed full of charm and character. A quirky little experience that manages to be just as entertaining as it is educational.
