Pothead is a surreal little narrative driven experience that blends beauty with darkness as you fight off waves of bugs as dark events blossom into life.
In Pothead you grow plants in a pot shaped like a head (or perhaps a head shaped like a pot) and try to protect them each day from bug attacks, then listen to the story they tell each night. The bugs try to attack the plant’s roots and if they succeed in destroying the roots then the plant dies too. You can plant more seeds though, use tears to restore roots and click on the bugs or use wasps to kill them.
After the bugs attack during the day the night will roll around and you can click on the plants to listen to each of their stories. It’s a very dark story that they weave and can be a little hard to follow at times due to the way it’s told, but it’s very intriguing.
Much like gardening in real life, Pothead is a very slow paced experience that takes its time to unravel its story. The hand animated visuals are beautiful (and a little disturbing) and it’s quite satisfying watching as your plants grow and fill the pot.
