Real Stories from the Grave: A Date to Keep is a dark and disturbing Silent Hill-esque first person survival horror game where the demons you face are your own.
Along with The Body, A Date to Keep is part of a planned anthology of horror games that really delve into the darker side of humanity. A Date to Keep follows the story of Samuel Scowl, a family man with a normal office job, who has had a bit of a breakdown. As you explore a fog-enshrouded town you encounter strange mannequin-esque figures and a mysterious voice talks to you, helping you discover the truth about the reality that eludes Samuel’s warped mind.
Taking around 30 minutes to play through, Real Stories from the Grave: A Date to Keep is a very intense experience that has you on-edge from start to finish. The voice acting and audio design are fantastic – especially the way the mannequins scream as they come at you. The blend of combat and exploration works well and it’s got a particularly dark story that you piece together you play, and there’s also a secret ending that contains a clever post-credits reveal. Highly recommended.
