Robostorm is a very impressive browser based multiplayer mech combat game in which four teams collect weapons, earn upgrades and battle each other in carnage-filled mech on mech combat.
In Robostorm teams of players face off in easily accessible, but surprisingly detailed isometric mech warfare. Each team starts in a corner of the map and earns points for every mech they blow up. You start with a single mounted minigun, but can pick up an extra weapon too that’s mapped to the right mouse button, such as flamethrowers, rocket launchers and grenade launchers.
Each of the mechs feature realistic damage, with armor and weaponry being shot off piece by piece. There are repair bays at each of the corners of the map though, so you can drop by one of them if your mech’s a little worse for wear. Do well and you’ll earn XP, which can be used to purchase a variety of permanent upgrades from the shop, such as better armor, more powerful bombs and the ability to deflect rockets.
It’s a very polished experience, featuring fast paced, destruction-filled mech combat with a nice balance of tactics and run and gun action. The level of detail in the mech models is particularly impressive, making it all the more fun when you blow an opponent to bits!
