Second Chance is a tense second person psychological horror game where one character who is sat behind a computer screen monitors and assists the other as she solves puzzles and avoids a knife-wielding maniac.
In Second Chance you take control of a female protagonist who wakes up in a strange facility with no idea how she got there. However, everything is seen from the viewpoint of a man who is sitting at a computer screen with a live feed of video cameras that are set up around the facility. The man and the woman know each other, but you’re not sure how, and they will have to work together to stand a chance of surviving – there’s a bomb that will go off if you don’t escape within 20 minutes.
To open the doors in the facility you need to find the codes, which you do by solving a series of puzzles that require you to figure out the correct order to activate a series of switches. There are also cryptic messages scrawled on the walls and there’s also the small factor of a knife-wielding psycho wandering the area.
It’s not often you get a second person viewpoint in games and it’s used very cleverly in Second Chance. The puzzles are very inventive, the cooperation between the characters is very well done and the ending is very well executed.
