Snek REDUX is a highly addictive game that takes the classic gameplay of Snake and turns it into a super tough side-scrolling dungeon crawler, complete with unlockable doors, collectable chalices and end of level bosses!
The core gameplay in Snek REDUX is similar to Snake – collect food to grow and avoid colliding with walls or yourself. There are a few fundamental differences though – you have the ability to press the spacebar and enter a slow mo ‘Snek Time’ and instead of instantly dying when you hit a wall you simply lose a piece of your tail (lose all your tail and you die). This makes the game a little more forgiving than a traditional Snake game, BUT the addition of the dungeon crawling elements make things a whole lot harder!
In each level you have to weave your way around a maze, collecting keys to open doors, collecting chalices and defeating a huge end boss. The bosses can be defeated in a similar way as Bowser in the original Super Mario Bros game – simply collect the axe thing that’s behind it, but squeezing past the boss can be pretty tricky!
It’s a fun twist on the traditional game of Snake, adding a little more depth and variety to Snake’s addictive gameplay, and accompanying it all with an awesome electronic soundtrack. Snek REDUX will really grow on you!
