Sonic Robo Blast 2 is a fantastic fan made 3D Sonic game with gorgeous pixel art visuals, a huge single player story mode and lots of online multiplayer modes – all built in a modified version of the Doom engine.
Built using a modified version of the Doom Legacy source port of Doom, Sonic Robo Blast 2 is an incredible fan made Sonic game that recreates the visual style of the original Sega Genesis games in glorious 3D. It features an extensive single-player mode with three playable characters (Sonic, Tails and Knuckles), boss fights and over 20 sprawling levels that are packed full of secrets, as well as nine different multiplayer game modes that allow up to 32 players to play simultaneously. It’s also packed full of customization options, bonus features and unlockable extras that you can earn by completing objectives in the game.
It can be easy to get lost in Sonic Robo Blast 2’s huge sprawling levels and the later ones are extremely tough, but it’s a whole lot of fun racing your way through its gorgeous pixelated world. It’s an impressive package that’s packed full of content and is one of the few 3D Sonic games that retains the feel of the Genesis originals. It really is a blast. Highly recommended.
