Created by GrahfMetal (creators of the excellent Infested) SPECTACLE is a NES styled point and click adventure full of secrets and ways to die. In the game you find yourself teleported to a magical kingdom after being caught trying to sneak into a circus. You’ve been tasked with retrieving a magical artefact and if you do then you’ll be allowed to return home, but the man you did the deal with doesn’t seem like the most trustworthy person…
With over 100 screens packed full of puzzles, secrets and ways to die, SPECTACLE is an epic adventure that will take a few hours to play through. You really have to pay close attention to details in the environment as it’s very much an old-school point and click adventure which does very little hand-holding. The puzzles are inventive and well crafted but due to the sheer size of the game it can be easy to get stuck at times (though if you message the devs on their Itch page they will usually give you a clue to guide you on your way).
It’s a very impressive game that does a great job of recreating the classic NES adventure style. There’s a nice sense of wonder and discovery to SPECTACLE and there’s a real joy to figuring out a puzzle or a new way to die. Highly recommended.
