Spectrum Valley is a delightful little musical experience where you explore a beautiful pixel art world that reacts to the music tracks that you play in it.
Part music visualiser, part 2D exploration game, in Spectrum Valley you can select any mp3 ogg, flac, wma, wav or midi file (as well as a few other more obscure formats) from your music library and play it through the game. This causes the entire world to react to the music, including objects, creatures and even the weather.
There are five unique biomes that you can switch between by going through doorways and there’s a foreground and background plane that you can switch between. You can customize your character and you can also collect coins and food bonuses for fun.
It would be nice if there were some unlockables or gameplay mechanics related to the coins and the fruit, but even as it stands Spectrum Valley is a wonderful place to chill out and listen to some jams. The pixel artwork is excellent and the way the entire world bounces to the beats is a real joy. Krank up the volume and go for a stroll in this wonderfully wobbly world!
