Spooky House is a charming little Game Boy styled action adventure where you use bubbles to trap ghosts as you search for your buddy in a haunted house.
Created for the GBJAM 9 by adamgryu (creator of Ghost Town’s 1000th Annual Pumpkin Festival), in Spooky House you take on the role of a cute little ghostbusting rabbit whose colleague and friend has gone missing while on a job. You now need to fight your way through a series of rooms in a haunted mansion as you try to exorcise the house and rescue your buddy.
When you enter each room of the mansion you are immediately sealed in there until you bust all the ghosts in there with you. You do this by blowing bubbles at them to capture them – a little like Bubble Bobble, but you need to avoid popping the balloons, as the room will only clear when all the ghosts are in bubbles.
Taking around 20 minutes to play through, it’s a delightful little adventure with fun level design, excellent pixel art vusuals and unique (and surprisingly challenging) gameplay. A super wholesome spooky adventure full of charm and creativity.
