STAR GUARD is a very cool pixel art action platformer in which you are tasked with carrying out a last gasp assault on an evil wizards fortress in the steaming jungles of Venus.
The gameplay in STAR GUARD is simple, punishing and addictive, with you running, jumping and blasting your way through the increasingly dangerous catacombs within the wizards fortress. As you progress, the story is relayed via text messages in the background – highlighting your increasingly dire situation and the consequences if you fail. You do have some allies, but they’re pretty much just cannon fodder – if you’re going to save your civilisation, you’re going to have to do it alone.
It’s a fun little game, with tight controls, challenging gameplay and a great low rez visual style. Will you manage to slay the space wizard?
