STOWAWAY is a very tense and atmospheric Alien-esque low rez first person Sci-Fi horror game where you attempt to dispose of an unwanted guest on the space station you work on.
In STOWAWAY you take on the role of a Janitor who works along with a skeleton crew in a decommissioned orbital station. A space janitor may not be the most auspicious job on the station, but it’s a vital job and soon there’s going to be a lot of mess to clear up! After carrying out a few menial tasks for your crewmates, things kick off when a ship boards the station. The crew are all missing but it looks like they had a hostile alien stowaway onboard and now it’s loose…
Taking around 30 minutes to play through, STOWAWAY is a very well crafted horror experience that feels fondly like you’re acting out the first Alien movie. There are quite a few parallels to Ridley Scott’s masterpiece – not least the industrial Sci-Fi environment and the way that the alien is used sparingly and effectively (with you often seeing parts of it, but not all of it at once).
It’s an excellent little horror game that delivers a very cinematic experience as you fight to dispose of your unwelcome visitor. The audio design is superb and the retro styled visuals work very well and help to build a tense and claustrophobic atmosphere. Highly recommended.
