Swordswallower is a stylish blood-splattered psych-goth action platformer where you use a massive throwable enchanted sword to dispatch enemies and traverse the environment.
In Swordswallower you take control of a mysterious protagonist who wields a huge enchanted sword. Interestingly, the sword isn’t used for sword-fighting, instead it’s used for throwing. You can hurl the sword at enemies to dispatch them and at switches to activate them, then you can recall it and watch as it comes whizzing back to your hand.
Perhaps the best use of the sword is how it allows you to traverse the game world though. You can hurl your sword and attach it to most surfaces, then you can teleport to wherever the sword is dug in at. This allows you to scale massive towers and dodge the many hazards in your way – which is particularly handy as your character can’t jump!
Taking around 30 minutes to play through, it’s a great little game with some very enjoyable enchanted sword-flinging mechanics. It’s got a great visual style, it offers a real challenge and the way your enemies explode into splatters of bright red blood is a lot of fun. You really don’t want to be swallowing that sword though – it’s bigger than you are!
