Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Re-Revenge is a fantastic ROM hack that transforms the classic Streets of Rage 2 SEGA Genesis game into a TMNT game.
Shredder’s Re-Revenge features the levels and soundtrack from the original Streets of Rage 2 game, but pretty much everything else has been changed. You have seven playable characters (Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello, Splinter, Casey Jones and April O’Neil), each with their own unique stats and move sets.
The characters’ sprites and move sets are based on TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge and feel much faster and responsive than the classic SoR characters. They can’t pick up weapons, but when you have sais and nunchucks, you don’t really need to.
All of the enemies have been replaced by TMNT versions too, including all of the bosses and there are even some new attacks too. Bosses include Rocksteady, Bebop, The Rat King, Wingnut, Leatherhead, Slash and Shredder (and one more that I won’t spoil here).
It’s an incredible ROM hack that transforms the three decade old beat ‘em up into a vibrant Turtles-filled adventure that feels like it could have just been released today. Possibly the best beat ‘em up ever to grace the SEGA Genesis.

Note: To Play Shredder’s Re-Revenge you’ll need a SEGA Genesis Emulator, the Lunar IPS program and a Streets of Rage 2 USA ROM (we can’t legally tell you where to find this but Google is your friend) and the Shredder’s Re-Revenge ROM Hack .ips file. You need to run the Lunar IPS program to add the hack to the Streets of Rage 2 USA ROM, then run it in the Emulator.
