The Gentleman’s Gold is a retro styled first person horror platforming adventure where you search for treasure in the depths while avoiding a murderous gentleman.
Created for the HPS1 Summer of Shivers game jam, in The Gentleman’s Gold you go in search of the fabled Gentleman’s Gold at the bottom of the ocean. The only problem being that the gentleman in question isn’t too keen on letting anyone have it!
The Gentleman’s Gold features a mixture of exploration, platforming, puzzle solving and horror as you explore the depths. Initially it’s quite a tranquil and beautiful experience, but in the second half the Gentleman starts to appear and things get much more intense as you run (and hide) for your life.
Some of the puzzles are a little obscure and some switches don’t activate unless you’re in the exact spot, but other than that it’s a great game. It’s got a surprisingly large and well crafted game world, with lots of great little details and some fun little easter eggs. There’s a lot to discover in the depths of The Gentleman’s Gold and you may even find that gold!
