The Lightkeeper blends Lovecraftian horror, puzzle and FPS gameplay as you reveal the dark secrets of a mysterious island that you wash up on.
In The Lightkeeper you take on the role of an ex-military officer who washes up on a remote island in Northern Ireland. The island seems to be filled with huge bipedal monsters that you dispatch with your trusty handgun. Perhaps more intriguing are the runes located around the island that you can activate by lining them up and looking at them in the right direction…
The Lightkeeper does have a few rough edges – such as the voiceover and the monsters being a little bland/repetitive. That said, there’s still a lot to like. The lore is intriguing, the visuals are great and the mixture of combat and puzzles world well. The perspective-based puzzles are particularly well designed and you get a real feeling that you’re delving deeper and deeper into the island’s dark secrets as you play.
