The Night Fisherman is a thought provoking little narrative-driven game about a fisherman on a small boat who is approached and interrogated by a member of the EPG – a group dedicated to preventing illegal immigrants from entering the UK.
In The Night Fisherman you take on the role of a night fisherman who is fishing off the coast of Dover in the English channel. You’ve not had much success catching any fish and it looks like your night is about to get a lot worse as you’re approached by a vessel that belongs to the English Protection Group. The vessel contains an armed man with an appetite for conversation and for keeping immigrants out of the UK.
Taking around 10 minutes to play through The Night Fisherman is a powerful little experience that feels a little reminiscent of the “Jew Hunter” scene with Christoph Waltz scene in Inglorious Basterds. It’s got a great visual style, with each camera angle beautifully framed and it’s cleverly told, with the EPG operative feeling very much like a cat toying with a mouse. Highly recommended,
