The Shape On The Ground is a sinister little first person experience that sees you completing a series of Rorschach-esque psychological tests within a creepy papercraft town.
In The Shape On The Ground you find yourself in a bizarre papercraft town and must explore it to find ten hidden psychological tests to complete. Each test presents you with a moving 3D diorama which contains surreal imagery for you to interpret. You’re then given a choice of three answers to decide what the diorama makes you feel. There are no right or wrong answers, it’s all up to your own interpretation, but your choices will affect which ending you get when you finish the game.
It’s a thoroughly bizarre experience with some very striking imagery and a very unsettling atmosphere throughout. The pseudo-psychological testing premise is very well implemented (it even comes with a questionnaire you can fill out after) and really makes you think about your answers before you choose them. It’d be nice if you actually got a rundown of what your answers actually say about your psyche, but then again it is a game, not a psychologist, and the multiple endings are a nice touch anyway. Strap in for this cleverly crafted spooky psychological evaluation.
