The Snow of Basidia is a short N64 styled horror game that sees a peaceful Ocarina of Time-esque 3D fantasy land experiencing its first snowfall.
Created by Modus Interactive (creator of Groaning Steel and Iketsuki) The Snow of Basidia is a N64 styled horror game set in an idyllic Hyrule-esque fantasy land. You are an ordinary guy who lives in a quiet mountain town that’s just enjoying the first snowfall it’s ever had. As you explore you can chat to the townsfolk, travel into the tunnel system they’ve built in the mountain and maybe even find out a little more about the snow…
Taking around 15 minutes to play through, The Snow of Basidia is a short, but beautifully crafted experience that really does feel like a N64 game. The start of the game feels like it’s the beginning of an Ocarina of Time-esque fantasy romp and there are lots of subtle little clues that foreshadow what happens when the game takes a dark turn. The horror element really sets in in the second half of the game and it makes for a pretty unforgettable experience. Highly recommended.
