The White Chamber is a very well made Event Horizon-esque Sci-Fi horror point and click adventure where you find yourself stranded, alone on a mysterious space station where something very bad has clearly happened.
In The White Chamber you follow the story of a young woman who wakes up on a deserted space station with no memory of who she is or how she got there. After a little investigation it becomes apparent that it’s a research statin of some sort that’s been researching a strange alien artefact and that something has gone seriously wrong. You’ll search for clues, solve puzzles and have twisted nightmarish visions as you unravel the story of what went down there and try to find some means of escape.
Originally released in 2005, The White Chamber is quite an old game, but it’s still a fantastic point and click adventure. The artwork and voice acting is excellent, the puzzles are well crafted and the narrative is very cleverly told. There are even multiple endings to discover depending on your actions throughout the game. A dark and nightmarish Sci-Fi horror adventure well worth delving into. Highly recommended.
Note: Save often as you can die and get one of the four Space, Electrocution, Venomous, and Decaying endings. There are also four true endings that you can achieve by performing certain tasks throughout the game (Tormented, Damned, Redemption, and Comedy). Also, on the game Download page you’ll find The Grey Tower, a 14 minute audio drama that serves as a prequel to the game (listen to it after completing the game though).
