Umbra is a short and surreal little first person adventure where you attempt to escape from a disorientating, repeating nightmare.
In Umbra you make your way through a series of strange nightmarish scenes that you need to figure out how to escape from. There doesn’t really seem to be a narrative that connects them, but they all feel like they’re part of a surreal dream that you’re not in the driver seat of.
It takes around ten minutes to play through Umbra and there are a few frustrations (mainly the disorientation when you enter the dark areas with light doors), but it’s a very interesting experience that does a great job of making you feel like you feel like you’re trapped in a surreal nightmare. The visuals are stunning at times and you’re never sure what to expect each time you step through a light door. A fascinating little nightmare well worth checking out.
