Unspokin is a charming third person puzzle adventure in which an aphasic (mute) girl and a blind bear work together and replenish the last habitable part of nature in a land plagued by toxic pollution.
The Celtic-inspired hanging islands that you explore are suspended from massive chains that are anchored somewhere in the skies above. They’re also heavily polluted due to deforestation and toxic run-off from the industry – in fact the toxins are so bad that Cairenn (the young girl) has lost her capacity for speech and the bear she comes across has been struck blind, with his eyes turning milky white.
Unspokin plays a little like The Last Guardian, with you using the girl to issue commands to the big bear (albeit with the bear being a little more obedient than Trico). The bear is fearful due to his lack of sight so need guidance from Cairenn, but his immense power (and weight) can be a great help to overcome obstacles. As you progress during the games (roughly) hour long playtime, you’ll solve puzzles, heal the land and form an emotional bond with the big old bear.
It’s a beautiful little adventure with themes of friendship and co-operation as the unlikely partnership work in unison, complimenting each other and overcoming obstacles to make a real difference in a dying land. A charming and emotional little adventure well worth checking out.
