Wardwell House is a creepy horror adventure that plays like a blend of Google Street View and The Blair Witch Project, as you explore a mysterious island via 360° panoramic pictures.
You start Wardwell House having washed up on a mysterious island after being lost at sea for several weeks. You set out along a trail through the woodland in front of you in search of some shelter, food and warmth. However, along the track there are signs that all is not right on the island, with mysterious crosses everywhere, dead animals and mysterious black cloaks hanging from trees. Then you discover the imposing looking Wardwell House and things really start to go bad…
Taking around 45 minutes to play through, Wardwell House isn’t perfect – the sound design could be better, the mouse-based controls are awkward, it’s not a very “interactive” experience and the world feels very still and lifeless. It’s a great concept though, that would be perfect for expanding on. It’s a very unique feeling game with a great sense of atmosphere and some beautiful imagery. With a little more gameplay, some minor animation and a few little tweaks this could help launch a whole new Street View Horror genre!
