Way of the Wolf is a well crafted stealth action adventure in which you and your AI wolf companion ambush robots and take down an evil mega-corporation that’s destroying your home.
In Way of the Wolf you take control of a stealthy female protagonist who is fighting back against an evil mega-corporation that is destroying her forest home and polluting the world with the gasses spewing out of its large robot factories. You can shut down the factories and the robots by powering down the various antennas that are scattered around the game world, but unfortunately there are lots of robots patrolling the area that will attack on sight.
You have a bow which can be used to attack the robots and you can use stealth to sneak past them, but your best weapon against them is Accalia, your AI controlled wolf companion. Rather than being a nuisance (as many AI companions are), Accalia is actually more useful than you are! You can command Accalia to stealth kill certain robots, activate traps, knock crates off boxes to allow you to climb them and even activate machinery that will aid your progress. Your wolf companion is a very valuable ally in your fight against the robots, so much so that you don’t really need to use your bow at all throughout the games 20 minute play time – Accalia can do all the hard work for you!
The visuals are more PS3 era than current gen and some of the animations could do with a little work, but other than that Way of the Wolf is a fantastic little stealth action adventure. The world design is very open, allowing you to tackle it in a variety of different ways and it’s refreshing to have an AI companion that not only doesn’t get in the way, but adds to the experience significantly. Highly recommended.
