Welcome Home is a short Midsommar inspired horror game where you go to visit an estranged friend at a strange little religious sect compound in the woods.
In Welcome Home you receive a letter from an old friend who you fell out with a while back. It seems she’s joined a religious sect that has helped her get her life back on track and she’s love you to come and visit. When you turn up you’re made to feel very welcome by the sect members and it looks like a pleasant place, but there are a few red flags (such as the bars on your windows). It’s clear there’s more going on than meets the eye.
It could probably do with ramping up the tension/horror a little more in the final act, and it would be nice to learn more about what the cult was trying to achieve, but it’s a fun little horror game with a great premise. The retro styled visuals look fantastic, there’s a very unsettling atmosphere around the compound and do a good job of being simultaneously pleasant and creepy. Highly recommended.
