Welcome Home Master is an adorable simulation game where you play as a Shiba Inu desperate to demonstrate their love for their master.
In your quest to impress your beloved owner, you’ll sprint around your home, upturning her prized possessions and eating every last scrap of food that you come across. The game is strikingly similar to the original release of Catlateral Damage, but rather than relying on physics to knock over objects, Welcome Home Master adopts a click-and-drag approach to its pet-fuelled mayhem. Surprisingly, these more precise controls hardly detract from the chaoticness of the experience. With the game’s excellent choice of music and liberal use of pink, it’s hard not to get caught up in the dog’s frantic whirlwind of love.
Certainly, Welcome Home Master could benefit from adding a bit more juice to its object interactions. Breakable objects, any kind of spreadable substance (be it paint or mud), and bouncier physics would all help to add some much needed dimension to the game’s basic premise. As it is, Welcome Home Master does an excellent job of putting you in the headspace of a hyperactive pooch and, when the countdown timer reaches zero, you can’t help but feel proud of your doggie remodelling efforts.
