What The Box? Is a very cool multiplayer shooter in which all the players are boxes, and are identical to the thousands of ordinary cardboard boxes that randomly litter the levels – so you can literally hide in plain sight, movement is the only thing that will give you away!
In What The Box? The golden rule of survival is to ‘trust no box’ – any one of the masses of cardboard boxes scattered around the level could be an enemy waiting to strike. There are three game modes – deathmatch, one bullet and fire tag. They’re all fun, but fire tag is the most interesting of the three, with the only player that’s able to shoot being the one that’s ‘on fire’ and the other players racking up points the longer they evade them (get shot and they take a turn being on fire). Thankfully all these modes have the option to add a ‘camping penalty’ to stop players from just hiding all match and winning!
The dev plans to add more features and polish to What The Box? But it’s already great fun – especially when an enemy waltzes past you completely unaware that you’re standing right in front of them. After playing second fiddle to Snake in all those Metal Gear games, it’s about time the cardboard box got it’s own game!
