White Hearts is a very stylish 2D pixel art precision action platformer where you run, jump and shoot your way through dimly lit levels and collect hearts to allow you to access the exit doors.
In White Hearts you control a little character with a big gun as they make their way through ten tricky levels. In each level you need to collect ten hearts to open up the exit door, then make your way to the exit.
The level design isn’t quite as tough and unforgiving as a Super Meat Boy style precision splatformer, but you’ll need a good bit of skill to conquer them. Especially a the majority of the levels are dimly lit, with you only ever able to see into the shadowy (often hazard-filled) areas when you’re close to them or if you fire a shot through them.
Taking around 10 minutes to play through, it’s a great game with a fantastic pixel art visual style, a catchy soundtrack and challenging (but not rage-inducing) precision action platforming gameplay. A darkly lit slice of 2D arcade action well worth shining a light on.
