Writhe and Veins is are short and surreal little PS1 styled first person horror games set within a red-hued bio-industrial nightmares.
Created by Valerie Dusk (creator of Bleakstead and Apolysis) Writhe and Veins are short horror vignettes set within a bioindustrial nightmares filled with steel, flesh and veins. There are very minor puzzles in each game, but on the whole they’re more about exploring and soaking in the atmosphere and the pulsing red visuals.
Both games are fairly short and linear experiences but a very unsettling and they really get under your skin. The audio and visual design is excellent and the red-hued constructions of flesh and steel feel very oppressive. They make for surreal nightmares that you can’t wait to escape from. Highly recommended.
