Megaman: Rock N Roll – Download Game

Megaman: Rock N Roll is a fantastic fan made Megaman game which looks and plays like the classics, while still introducing some great ideas of its own.

Created by the talented Dennis Engelhard, Megaman: Rock N Roll delivers a full Megaman adventure which sees Megaman and his little sister (Roll), setting out to save the world from someone who is capturing and controlling all of the robots in the world. It looks like a SNES game and plays very much like the classic NES era Megaman games (so expect some seriously challenging gameplay!).

As is traditional, there are eight bosses to select from the level select screen, all of which have their own themed levels. You can choose whether to play as Megaman or Roll at the start of each level. Roll plays much like Megaman, but she can’t do charge shots and she can double-jump – which can really make the platforming easier (but still satisfyingly hard).

The levels are all very well designed and are packed full of classic baddies to blast from across the Megaman series. There are also special collectibles to grab and as you progress through the game you’ll unlock four allies who can help you.

Fan games really don’t get much better than Megaman: Rock N Roll and neither do Megaman games. It looks and plays like a Megaman game should, the retro pixel art visuals look fantastic and the game is packed full of great little details. An all time classic adventure for the Blue Bomber. Highly recommended.

  1. Be forewarned this is an extremely difficult game. In fact I would garner Capcom would never sanction this game due it difficultly level.

Now don’t get me wrong I appreciate the effort and hard work you have put into this. However, watching the brutality of this game, I could say that the difficulty is ratcheted way up to the point that the game is more aggravating than fun. While the Mega Man expert could play this game, any average person who rented a NES cartridge from the video store would have returned this the next day.

Mega Man needs to be FUN, not Battletoads aggravating.

    1. Too many parts of the game that require precision pinpoint jumping or landing. This was never required in anything past MM1
    2. Too many characters on the screen at one time that would be improbable of the NES capabilities.
    3. Too many characters that are too small to hit successfully (The glowing dots in the one castle stage is a good examples.)
    4. Too many spawning enemies on the screen at one time.
    5. Too many situations where the user has to constantly be running through the course without running or stopping. An average user can maybe do this for three seconds, but you’re requiring individuals to do this for up to seven seconds. The worst egregious part is the upside down castle stage for Roll. This stage is just ridiculous and not a traditional Mega Man level.
    6. Enemies cause WAY too damage when you are hit.
    7. Too many ‘dick moves.’ You’ll walk onto the screen and an enemy will be firing before you even have a chance to react. Or you will get to a certain spot only to be shot down by a hidden enemy.
    8. Too much requirements of using the special weapons. In all the original games I could easily make my way through the levels with just the buster and save the special weapons for the bosses.
    9. Not enough power-ups appearing when you shot enemies. No way to grind to get back up to normal power.
    10. Way too many jumps and fall to your death situations, that are way too long, way too hard, and completely insane to try and complete.

Any Capcom representative would attempt to play this and go ‘yeah this is too difficult, it’s not fun.’ And while I really want to love this game, I simply can’t because simply, it’s way too difficult. A good Mega Man game is something you can progress easily through, and this one is just too brutal.
